Biography

Myriam Ullens and MUS

300 suitcases per year. The story of MUS begins with a number: The number of suitcases entrepreneur, philanthropist and art patron Myriam Ullens de Schooten figures she packed (and unpacked) each year as she traveled variously for the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, the non-government organizations and orphanages she created in Nepal for women’s healthcare and disadvantaged children, her husband’s business or family trips.

An avid traveler as well as a fashion lover, Ullens decided to create a luxury travel knitwear label in 2010, lending it her own initials (MUS is pronounced “muse”).

She found a kindred spirit in Belgian-born designer Véronique Leroy, whose mastery of cut, tailoring

and knits dovetailed with the MUS aesthetic. Together, they have expanded MUS into a full-fledged collection of exceptional knits and leather statement pieces. Whether in suede or cashmere, knit, fur or fleece, jackets and coats are designed to do double duty: some are reversible, others have a removable collar in chinchilla or Rex, and yet others blend the comfort of a cardigan with the structure of a jacket.

Each season, MUS redefines the notion of haute comfort dressing by merging a collection of urban pieces with leisure-oriented basics that emphasize versatility. Exclusive fabric treatments, sophisticated proportions and exceptional craftsmanship are key to every collection.

The MUS collection is made in Italy in the finest production facilities.
