Jason Wu
Biography
Influenced by the classic photography of Richard Avedon and the collections of Charles James and Jacques Fath, Wu celebrates the female form by emphasizing a woman's hourglass silhouette while utilizing the most luxurious fabrications and detailing. Harking back to the days when women were always polished and styled to perfection, the Jason Wu collection aims to revitalize the art and perfection of dressing with a relaxed and youthful attitude.
Although only 27, Wu has already achieved many accomplishments. At age 9, Wu began learning how to sew, draft patterns, and sketch in fashion proportions by using dolls as mannequins. By the age of 14, he went to study sculpture in Tokyo and then spent his senior year of high school in Paris, where he decided to become a fashion designer. Wu then enrolled in the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York. In June 2010, the designer was honored with the CFDA's Swarovski Award for Womenswear.
The Jason Wu Collection is youthful and sophisticated, with a focus on garments crafted as beautifully inside as out. Jason is renowned for his refined American sportswear that mixed old-world and modern elements with playful dashes of color, creating the perfect feminine identity.
The Jason Wu Collection is a manifestation of the eclectic and diverse background of its designer Jason Wu. Wu combines modern lifestyle dressing with the spirit and detailing of haute couture in a way that is both innovative and romantically reflective.
